As a Professor of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School and Division Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, he has pioneered advancements in perioperative imaging and intraoperative management of complex cardiac procedures. His research focuses on the application of 3D echocardiography to enhance surgical precision and patient outcomes. A widely published author and dedicated educator, Dr. Mahmood continues to shape the future of cardiac anesthesia through innovation, leadership, and training the next generation of specialists.

About the Valve Research Group

The Valve Research Group at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is a collaborative initiative between the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care & Pain Management and the Department of Surgery’s Division of Cardiac Surgery. This multidisciplinary team focuses on advancing the understanding and treatment of cardiovascular conditions, particularly those involving heart valves, through a combination of clinical research, education, and innovation.
